Historical Projects
Here's a sampling of the type of projects that Moedus has successfully performed.
3D Terrestrial Scanning – Belleville, MI Water Facility
Scope
The project required Moedus to scan the entire 30,000 sq ft water facility as well as the surrounding area of over 5 acres of land. The onsite surveyor/engineer using Total Station provided real world coordinates for control. Moedus produced a 3D point cloud model that was post processed into a 3D CAD model and integrated into a geospatial model which allowed the client to better prepare for future workflow modification and clash detections.
Deliverables
Our 2D/3D files of the building and topographic files were compatible with CAD software by importing 3D “point clouds” for use with CloudWorx running as a module within Microstation.
3D LiDAR Scanning of San Gregorio de Abo and Abo Painted Rock Art Site for National Park Service
Scope
Moedus conducted high-resolution 3D LiDAR scanning of portions of San Gregorio de Abo
Mission Church and Abo Painted Rock for the production of architectural sheets to aid in documentation, assessments, recording stabilization histories, as well as for monitoring, and exhibit design visualizations.
Deliverable
All 3D point cloud data was registered and geo-referenced to the same coordinate system currently in use to allow easy integration with the existing GIS data. Scan data from this project was also used to produce a digital 3D model from which line models, topography, and mapping data was produced. In addition, the topography obtained from the scanning effort was used to correct and model the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) data.
This project was scanned and custom post processed in 14 days. This was approximately 1 year faster than the prior vendor completed its portion of the project.
Oil and Gas Tank Farm – Greensboro, NC
Scope
Moedus provided a 3D AutoCAD as-built model of the Greensboro, NC, Oil and Gas Tank Farm Terminal. The facilities included nine product storage tanks, piping manifold area, pumps, truck loading rack, office and maintenance buildings and other equipment and buildings typical of a refined product storage facility.
Field Efforts
Moedus utilized Leica Scanner Hardware that captured accurate 3D point cloud data of the entire facility. We provided detailed digital photography and field sketches and notes will be collected and added to the total visual database for use in the CAD efforts. The final 3D Model was registered to a project defined local coordinate system.
Deliverable
Our CAD technicians utilized scan field data from Leica CAD software tools and AutoCAD software to create the as-built 3D AutoCAD models. Appurtenances were modeled as simple representations of the equipment using AutoCAD. Each pump included the foundation as a 3D box, the pump base as its structural member, the motor as a single cylinder or rectangular box, the coupling as cylinders, the pump as a cylinders or boxes to define shapes, and suction and discharge flange connections modeled with appropriate flange rating. |
